GPOY, Gratuitous Picture Of Yourself: Sofiithax & Karinithax

This picture is from the day my friend and I were going to shave our heads instead of doing our homework and studying for the exams. We locked ourselves in the university’s toilets to do it, and as we waited for the hair clipper machine to be ready (as it was an electric machine, we had to wait until its battery was full), we started talking about fashion trends and its changes through the years. We were thinking back to our adolescence, remembering when the so called urban tribes and fotolog were a thing. We laughed and talked about the emos, gothics and the well- known pokemones. Both of us used to identify as emos back in the day, showing off the typical emo-fringe. That’s when we tried to imitate that look, trying to pull out the fringe again and we started posing and taking pictures. That’s why we also added our emo nicknames to the picture above. It was really funny, because we also look very young in the pictures, as if we were fifteen again and not in our twenties. We also added the classic pictures effects, as if we were to post it in our fotolog account just as we used to do it back in the day. In the meantime, people started knocking the bathroom’s door and asking if someone was inside. Instead of opening the door, we tried to keep quiet and continued taking funny pictures, like the one above.
